What Is ISRO?

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is India’s national space agency, responsible for developing technology and carrying out missions related to space exploration, satellite communication, and national development. • Chandrayaan-3 (2023): Successful soft landing near the Moon’s south pole, a global first for India.

Structure and Divisions

ISRO functions through multiple research centers and units across India:

• Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram – Rocket and launch vehicle development.

• ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bengaluru – Satellite design and integration.

• Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota – India’s primary spaceport.

• Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad – Research in satellite communications and remote sensing.
